Today, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa is the “Diamond of the Temecula Valley.” Touting over 600 distinguished awards for the wines they’ve produced in just four years, South Coast shocked the wine industry further in July of 2008 when it took the coveted “Golden Bear” award from its Northern California counterparts, naming it “California Winery of the Year” from the California State Fair Wine Competition.

South Coast Winery produces a broad portfolio of premium wines that are 100 percent grown and produced with care under Carter’s tutelage in Temecula Valley’s Wine Country. In fact, it’s targeting to produce over 65,000 cases of award-winning wine next year under four very distinct labels: Elevation; South Coast Winery; Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyard; and Carter Estates.
From grapes produced by the rich Southern California soil and ample Temecula Valley sun, South Coast Winery’s talented winemakers craft blends and varietal selections with intense flavors and soft, supple structure. South Coast Winery Resort & Spa features two popular Tasting Rooms – both are open seven days a week: Vintner’s Vault and the intimate Wine Press. Winery tours are also offered daily.
Look for the grand fountain that marks the wine tasting room entrance and you’ll find a spacious room with rustic beamed ceilings and Tuscan decor. The Vintner’s Wine Vault Tasting Room walls themselves are an original painting: a mural of the entire South California Temecula Valley Wine Country and surrounding mountains. Sculptures and artwork represent area wildlife. Open daily.
For group tours or those looking for something a bit more intimate, the Wine Press Tasting Room & Deli can be found on the east side of the property. This special tasting room is now open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and daily on weekdays between the hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
South Coast Winery produces four wine collections from its Southern California vineyards, labeled by vineyard block and available at the winery, at local restaurants and shops or online.
Under the South Coast Winery label, you’ll find a select group of varietals grown in and around the Temecula and Southern California Appellation. These affordable whites, reds and rosés reflect an exuberant fruit.
Wild Horse Peak Mountain vineyard varietals of Southern California are grown at 2,200 feet above sea level. The label’s quality Cabs, Syrahs and Merlots are as big and bold as the wild-west names given to their vineyard blocks, like Dry Rock Gulch, Devil’s Hole, Lone Boulder Ridge…
Carter Estate Reserve wines, the winery’s newest label, are produced from select lots of varietals grown in the Southern California Temecula Wine Country Estate Vineyards. Aged in the finest European oak barrels and released in limited quantities, these wines exhibit balance, complexity and concentration.
